😲 Wait... WHAT happened at Westminster?!

The best breed representatives congregated this week to receive their accolades. Here's what you need to know...

The Ultimate 2024 Westminster Recap

Wake up! The Super Bowl of dog shows happened last night, and if you missed it… well… shame on you (just kidding). Don’t fret. We’re here to provide you with everything you need to know to make sure your Westminster rundown is sharp for the office watercooler.

Sage the miniature poodle has been named Best in Show at the 148th edition of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, which took place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York on Tuesday.

Mercedes the German shepherd, a four-year-old from Bethesda, Maryland (Woohoo! Hometown shoutout!), took Reserve Best in Show.

Sage is a three-year-old from Houston, Texas, owned by Cathy Gauche and handled by Kaz Hosaka.

This marks the first time since 2002 that a miniature poodle won Best in Show (Surrey Spice Girl). Hosaka also served as handler for that winner.

Hosaka, who was participating in his 45th (and final) Westminster Dog Show, spoke afterward.

Sage bested six other finalists. Here's a look at all of them:

Hound Group: Louis (Afghan Hound)

Toy Group: Comet (Shih Tzu)

Non-Sporting Group: Sage (Miniature Poodle)

Herding Group: Mercedes (German Shepherd)

Sporting Group: Micha (Black Cocker Spaniel)

Working Group: Monty (Giant Schnauzer)

Terrier Group: Frankie (Colored Bull Terrier)

Sage's win marks the 11th time a poodle has won Best in Show, per Jennifer Peltz of the Associated Press. Only wire fox terriers have won more often.

That’s the high level… no fluff. You’re welcome. Now, go on with your day feeling confident that you’ve been Westminstered!
